Swapping to Sporto

Submitted by james33 on Mon, 02/02/2009 - 14:06

Guys,
Does anyone out there have a definative list of the parts you need when swapping TOO a Sporto.
A friend of mine has a Sporto which he wants to change to manual and I would like sometime in the future to buy another 911 and run it as a daily driver.

So far i have
Gearbox and shift
Sportomatic Flywheel and Sporto f/w bolts
Sportomatic oil tank
Sportomatic torque converter
Sportomatic pressure tank
Sportomatic hard oil line
Sportomatic throttle rod
Sportomatic control valve
2.4T engine wiring harness, for Sportomatic
Clutch disk
pedal board and brake box with accelerator
905/925 Pressure plate. Porsche # 905.116.255.10
vacuum tank
Servo components, brackets, housing what other small bits?
sporto pump at cam box (remember to remove the drive dowels from the cam shafts)
Manual shift rod is a different length (in the tunnel)
Try and get a SC derived box to reduce the issues for your specific car. I'm pretty sure you need electronic speedo drive and the small fine splined flanges and smaller six bolt CV/drive shafts

Any thing else and any tips for the swap.

eventually i would like the 4 speed box, anyone have one for sale or swap?

James - can't help you with a more complete list but you could try searching on Pelican.

You could submit the first wanted ad in our classifieds for a 905/925 - check the link on the left.

SWAPPING TO SPORTO

HI JAMES,
DON'T FORGET THE ONE WAY VALVE ON THE MANIFOLD[MANIFOLD TO CONTROL VALVE]FOR THE VACUUM,THESE A NOT CHEAP.THE SUPPORT BRACKET ON THE CONTROL VALVE ARE DIFFERENT[CARBS.vs K-JET]. I,VE GOT A 4-SPEED BOX SPARE BUT THE HOUSING IS DAMAGED, A MUPPET HAS SCOURED WHERE THE OIL SEAL SEATS BEHIND THE CLUTCH PLATE. ALL I CAN SUGGEST IS YOU BORE OUT THE HOLE[MACHINE SHOP] A LITTLE AND GET A MATCH ON IT AND THE SHAFT FOR THE OIL SEAL.I'VE GOT A COUPLE OF TORQUE CONVERTERS SPARE IF YOU NEED THEM.....[U.K]
