Earl Green's '73S 2.7 RS Spec

Great web page! More info on the sportomatic then I have found anywhere. You might have heard of my car from one of the two previous owners. I live in Portland Oregon and purchased it a year ago from Bill Woods in Paducah Kentucky. He had only owned it for a year. He bought it from Tom Weston. Weston lives in Interlochen Michigan. He found the car in a barn in Stuttgart in 1985 where it had sat for nine years. An elderly woman bought the car originally and only drove it for three years. There was an exhaust leak that made her sick. She was afraid to drive the car so she parked it. The car sat uncovered in a barn with chickens. Her grandson attempted a resto on it at some point. He pulled all the glass out and ground holes into the passenger rear quarter. That was the condition Weston found the car in. He transported it to the USA in 1986.

It is #9113300238 and came out of the factory on 9/19/72 which was Butzi's be-day and coincidentally mine. The RS upgrade was performed using the original case and the car literally rocks! I love making sporto converts out of other early car guys. I had fully intended on putting a 915 in and even bought a gear box with the car. Now I am planning on buying a 905, putting short gears in it and sticking my original gear box on the shelf. I also own a 1987 951 and recently sold a 1984 Carrera which I had for five years. I have had the pleasure of driving quite a few Porsches and with the exception of a 1976 930 and a 1972 911T with a 2.8 and short gear box both set up by the shop owned by the crew chief of the Alex Job car that won LeMans, I have not found a more enjoyable car to drive than my car...

Weston told me he was able to spend quite a bit of time in the Porsche factory. He told me the that he was told this was one of eleven european1973 911S Sportomatic manufactured. He say's of that four went to the USA and three are running today. I have not been able to verify this. Do you have any resources that could?

Thank you,
Earl Green
